As our businesses are continuously evolving and shifting, it’s important that we regularly make the appropriate changes necessary so that we don’t hinder our own growth. Inevitably, there can come a time in our entrepreneurial journey where we start to feel disconnected from our business branding. If any of the points below resonate with you then it might be time to for you to consider a brand overhaul.
Perhaps over time your brand direction has shifted and you no longer feel in tune with what you’re actually offering. If you feel constricted by your current branding and unable to expand as you would like then changing up your brand’s narrative can be just the refresh that you need to start gaining quality guests and elevate above the competition.
There’s nothing worse than meeting the potential client of your dreams only to feel overcome with self-consciousness and shame as you hand over your business card or share your website. There’s no denying that we all judge a book by its cover and the same goes for business branding. If you feel that yours is not up to scratch and that you’ve outgrown your brand name, colour story or style then it might be time to change things up a bit to realign with your new vision.
Oftentimes, when we start a company, we are happy to appeal to anyone and everyone and this can often mean diluting our brand messaging in order to appeal to the masses. As time goes on, it’s clearer that to become even more successful and raise your prices, focusing on a niche audience is the smartest move in order to grow. If you find yourself asking – am I attracting my ideal guests and customers to my hotel? Does my branding reflect the ideals of my target audience? If the answer is no, and our gut will often know the answer long before we are ready to admit it aloud, then it’s time to get back to the drawing board and refocus on attracting our ideal guests and customers.
It’s not uncommon to begin your business by offering a slew of services simply to get more guests through the door. Before you know it, your brand has no unifying narrative and often confuses people as they struggle to understand what it is you actually offer. Simplifying what your brand focuses on, rather than trying to capture the entire market, will enable you to raise the quality of your services rather than being spread too thin. We encourage our clients to regularly take a step back and focus on their brand offerings, narrative and direction as during the busy-ness of running a business we can often find that we have left our intended path and become lost amongst our competitors. A brand revamp and solidifying how you uniquely add value to the marketplace might be just the ticket to get you back on track and more focused than before.
It happens all too often, brands raise their prices to accommodate the rising industry costs and maintain a healthy business, but struggle to get people to pay their new rates. As pricing is all about how your guests perceive your brand, it will likely take a brand overhaul in order to get people to view your brand with a new appreciation and start paying your raised fees.
We all know that feeling, looking around and realising that our branding, marketing material and website look like all the others out there. We know that our brand offers quality services, but no one can differentiate us from the masses, so how do we convey our unique offering? The best place to start is at the beginning, determining your brand’s origin story and intertwining that with your brand’s narrative, colour story, visual aesthetic, language, personality and typography. The only way to stand out from the crowd and provide a compelling reason for people to choose you over the rest is to stay true to your brand’s own unique story and use that to elevate your business above your competition.
One of the biggest giveaways that your brand is in need of a refresh is that you have found yourself asking if it does! The moment we start to wonder about it and can’t get the niggling thought out of our minds then we know that it’s time to take control, strategise a swift and uplifting rebrand in order to shift out of a stagnant rut and start bringing in more quality business.
